Enjoying the recession everybody?

So I was sitting in a meeting with a few other developers and technicians when our conference room is invaded by other random Pathware employees. It turns out everyone in the company (~35 people) is being called to a impromptu meeting. Weird. The president walks in. He looks frustrated. At this point I know nothing good can come of this meeting. Once everyone is in, the door is shut. Then he lays it on us. Pathware ….. is to be closed down effective immediately. All employees, save two to take care of some HR related duties, are let go. We are to pack our things, give back our keys and be out today. Apparently the owners decided that a $20 million dollar tax write off was worth more to them than the company.

All of what has been said so far has been true; The closure was abrupt and heartless, and the actions of the original owners lacked any hint of consideration for the customers… but the story is not over yet. The phoenix may still yet rise from the ashes, or it may stay 6 feet under. Either way, we need to wait for the final word before writing any eulogies.
